Do you carry river rock?
Yes we do. “River Rock” is a very general term. In fact, most of our decorative gravels are actually considered “river rocks” and are sourced from all over the country in various colors, shapes, and sizes. Other types of decorative gravel are produced through a crushing process whereby larger pieces of stone are crushed into a gravel form.
How do you sell your rock?
We sell most of our rock by weight (ton) in any amount. You can come pick up a few pieces and pay per pound, purchase bags of rock (50 lb. bags) to be loaded into your car, have it dumped into your open-bed pickup truck or trailer, or have it delivered.
Do you deliver?
Yes we do! We have dump trucks for loose materials and a flatbed for palletized materials. Our delivery fees are a flat-rate charge per trip with a maximum of 12-14 tons per trip. We deliver locally within 100 mile radius. Our local delivery time frame can vary, but can usually be done in 2-4 business days. For large and/or nationwide projects, we can also deliver in large semi-loads that are 22-24 tons each.

Delivery Details
Dump Truck:
- Standard delivery is at the base of your property line and typically on your driveway. If the rock is larger than 2″, we recommend dumping in a dirt or grass area to protect the driveway from the impact of the stone.
- A tarp is recommended (not provided) if dumped on grass or dirt. A 10′ x 10′ tarp will be suitable for most loads.
- For specific dump locations on the property, the contractor or property owner must be present to direct driver. For deliveries beyond the curb line, the customer must sign a liability waiver.
- To ensure a safe environment, your delivery driver has ultimate discretion on the safety and/or ability to dump in a specific location
Flatbed Truck with detachable forklift:
- Standard delivery is at the base of your property line and typically on your driveway. Full pallets range 1.5-2 tons
- To place pallets further into your property, placement services are based on $175 per hour (min. 30 minutes)
- For off-pavement placement, the area must be dry with minimal incline/decline
- Placement services are to set the pallet or boulder down only. We are unable to stack stone, build walls, or move any other items

How do I know how much I need?
You can use our handy calculator or use these general formulas below. Most of the time, you simply want to take the length x width (in feet) of the area to get square footage. You will then divide that number by the amount of square feet per ton the rock covers. The coverage of each rock will be different depending on size and the depth you want to go. Please don’t hesitate to call (913) 432-5990 or email us if you want to discuss this in a little more detail. We are here to help!
E.g. using Buffalo River Rock 2″ (Covers 80 sq. ft. per ton @ 2″ depth)
Sq. Ft.: Length x width = Square Footage
e.g.: 10′ x 10′ = 100 sq. ft.
100 (Sq. Ft.) / 80 (Coverage of the river rock) = 1.25 tons
For backfill or hole fill, you will want to use Cubic Feet (Length x Width x Height) and divide by the Cubic Foot coverage of the particular stone you are interested in.
E.g. Using 1″ Clean Gravel for backfill (Covers 20 Cubic Ft per ton)
Area: 12′ Long x 3′ Tall x 1.5′ Wide = 54 Cu Ft. / 20 Cu Ft. = 2.7 Tons
Why is my new rock dirty and lacking color?
This is very common. River rock is dredged from the bottom of rivers and will be be mixed with sand and silt as a result. Even though most of the the rock we carry goes through a washing process, it is produced in such volume that the rock can never be completely cleaned. As the rock is handled and transported, it is then exposed to more dust. Prior to installing your river rock, we recommend hosing off the pile to remove excess dirt prior to installation. You can rest assured that after your rock is installed and weathered from a few good rainfalls, the river rock will reveal its color and natural beauty.
What is your return policy?

House of Rocks reserves the right to refuse returns at our discretion. Thin Veneer is non-returnable item.
